Before you being with highlighting, it’s very important to prepare and moisturise your lips. Dry lips and lipstick do not mix, so make sure you prepare your lips area first. In order to remove any dead skin cells and have a smooth canvas to work on, apply your favourite scrub onto a clean toothbrush and use a circular motion to gently exfoliate your lips. If your lips are cracked or really sensitivity, children’s toothbrush will work best for you. Next, grab your non-oily balm and apply it from the centre of the bottom lip first towards the corners. Once you’ve prepared and moistures your lips properly, you can continue with the steps below;

  • The secret to highlighting your lips is applying your favourite powder on your entire lip area until it is totally ‘mortified’. This will make your lipstick last longer by giving it something to stick to.
  • Then, grab your brown lip pencil and trace the natural edges of your lips, starting at the centre-top and centre- bottom of your lips and then work outward. If you need to refine the lines, simply draw over these areas with your lip liner and blend where needed.
  • Now focus on the cross contour lines that, for most lips, are clearly visible. Smudge the lines a bit with your finger to soften the colour. Lightly fill in your lips using the brown pencil.
  • Use highlighter and apply it on those areas of your lips that catch light. The ideal places to highlight are light above Cupid’s bow and around the edges of your lips.
  • And lastly, in order for your lips contouring to last longer, apply two or three casts of gloss with a brush. It will highlight your lips and create that amazing, glossy finishing to your makeup.
